Bridging an age gap

“Can I see the words?”, the youngest of 3 siblings asked me.

Giving her the words amounts to giving her a fighting chance.

The boys are a couple of years ahead of her and twins so they spur one another on. The healthy competition helps them to learn from one another.

A game of ‘hangman’ using body parts vocabulary is rendered less challenging when she has the words in front of her to choose from.

The boys fought it, naturally, but not strongly once they understood the reasoning behind it.

It was a useful experiment.

Teaching 3 siblings together, of different ages and abilities, is something that I’ve been struggling with, but this gave me insight that I will apply in future classes.
